Our Writing Journey

At St Philip Evans we give children the opportunity to write through a purposeful, inquiry based approach. Over the course of the academic year, all children will experience writing a variety of non-fiction genres including information, recounts, discussion, persuasion, instruction and explanation texts. As well as, writing fictional narratives, poetry and drama responses. 

In order for a child to be able to 'write', they must embark on a journey from birth, starting with the build up of strength in their fine and gross motor skills and developing into a competent writer. Please see the information below about the journey a child goes on from 'mark-making' to writing.
