For homework, please create a simple poster on a Welsh hero of your choice. In class we have focussed on St Philip Evans, Betty Campbell, Aneurin Bevan and Ali Abdi – you may choose one of these heroes or any Welsh hero of your choice.

If you would like to be elected for a Committee you need to fill out the form and bring back by Wednesday 10th July. You can apply for as many as you like. We are creating our very own ‘A Taste of Home’ International Healthy Cookbook and to help us with this exciting project we would like every family to contribute their favourite tasty recipe from home or from around the World. It could be a starter, a quick bite, a main course or a dessert.

Please include the dish, its country of origin (with an international flag), along with the ingredients, equipment, method and cooking time.

Please include your name at the bottom of your recipe.

We are aiming to add a completed copy to the school website for all to enjoy.

Homework 7th June 2024  

Next week, we are celebrating the day of welcome. We are thinking about the idea of having a home and what reminds you of home. We would like you to bring in or write something that makes you think of home. It might be your home here, or your home in another country where you have family. 

You could also create a welcome poster for refugees who have had to leave their country for different reasons and are making Wales or St Philip Evans their home. You could do this on paper or log in to hwb and use Adobe Express like we have been doing in class.

Information about next week 

Tuesday - Sports Day, please wear your house colour tshirt into school. These are on Google Classroom and have been shared with the children this week.

Wednesday - Wednesday pm Year 4 are having a Jungle music afternoon to start our new music topic. Pupils must wear school uniform in on this day, but they have asked in pupil voice if they can wear their own clothes for the party. If you want to wear your own clothes you can bring them in for the afternoon. Please wear your school uniform to school in the morning though. Do not buy anything new, a coloured tshirt and some shorts will be fine as it is hot in the classroom. You do not need to dress up if you do not wish to.

Friday - Day of Welcome for Refugees - if you want to dress up in yellow or green to celebrate the day of welcome please bring £1.

Next Thursday, is our class assembly. Please learn your part for the assembly. We have sent them home on paper, but also the whole script is on google classroom. Learn your part and also look at the person speaking before you, so you know when to start. 

Next week, we are celebrating World Bee Day! This weekend, complete some research on Bees and why they are so important to our world. Present it in your chosen form: Google classroom, poster, fact file,  photos, video etc.

Homework 1: Our Summer production for Year 3 and 4 this year is 'The Jungle Book'. Year 4's homework this week is if they wish to audition, learn a part from the script. We will start to audition in the next few weeks before half term. We will give the children notice of when this will be. They can have the script with them to audition if they wish. There are a number of speaking parts in the production, acting parts, stage production and costume design. If you want a speaking/acting part, please choose one part from the attached scripts. If you do not wish to audition for a speaking or acting part it's not a problem- Everyone will be a part of our jungle choir!

Science Week 

Next week we are celebrating STEM week (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). The focus of the week is time. We will be thinking about how we know the time of the day and completing an experiment about this.

For your homework we want you to create your own timetable of a normal school day. Think about times things happen when you wake  up, have breakfast, leave for school, lunchtime. 

We also want you to think about how nature might help us tell the time or the time of year. How does the sun help us know the time of day? How do the trees tell us the time of Year?

On Tuesday we will be celebrating World Book Day. For your homework we want you to do something to celebrate reading. You could make a poster about your favourite book, design a front cover for your favourite book or complete a book review about a book you would recommend.

Lenten Homework 

In our Religion lessons we are learning about the season of Lent and what Catholics do during this season. 

We have been learning about the three key ways we act during Lent: fasting, prayer and almsgiving. 

This week for your homework we want you to create something to help you reflect during this very important time.

You can be creative for this: A Lenten prayer, a Lenten Promise, a Lenten calendar with promises for the season, some Lenten artwork. Remember the liturgical colour for the season is purple, so try to include this in your homework. You could do this on Google Classroom or write / draw your own to bring in. Some ideas below to help.

Half Term Homework 9th Feb 2024

Your homework is to enter one or more of the Eisteddfod Competitions, these will be judged on Wednesday 21st February so all entries must be in by then. 

3D Modelling Competition – Children are encouraged to make a 3D model of something which represents Wales for them. Children may use whichever means of media they wish and the topic is broad to encourage creativity. 

Cookery Competition - Children are encouraged to cook something which is a traditional Welsh recipe or depicts Wales to them.

Young Performer Competition- This competition encourages children to showcase their talents. Auditions will take place in class the week beginning 26^th March. Two children will then be chosen to represent their class during our Eisteddfod celebration. The children may like to prepare a song or dance, recite a poem or play a musical instrument.

Photography Competition- Children to take a photo of something that represents Wales or being Welsh. This could be a landmark or place of interest or anything else. Remember to take the photo yourself!

T-shirt Competition- Children to design and create their own Welsh / Wales themed t-shirt. This can be on a piece of paper or on an actual t-shirt.
