Our Faith

CAFOD fundraising day in Year 2. The pupils voted for ways to celebrate our CAFOD fundraising and these included playing a football match and designing a football kit.

On Wednesday, during a spell of sunshine ☀️ we managed to plant our bulbs and bedding plants for our Easter garden. Thank you to our very supportive parents, who provided the beautiful array of plants and helped us prepare the soil and plant our garden.

Celebrating the Patron Saint of Wales on his special day, March 1st. We had a wonderful Eisteddfod where we performed as a class, entered competitions and showcased our musical talents.

We have been painting picture of the four Gospel writers, paying particular attention to St Matthew in this special Year of the Word.

Our”Thanksgiving” Topic in Come and See

Over the past four weeks, we have been working on our Thanksgiving topic. We learnt that the word, Eucharist, means thanksgiving and we began by exploring the many people that we say thank you to. We made ‘thank you’ cards.

We chose our favourite lines from the Children’s Eucharistic Prayer and described why we chose them and illustrated them.

We ordered the parts of mass in a flow map.

Books RE topic - sharing our love of books with our friends in our Explore, but realising that the Bible is the most important book of all .

Beginning our new topic, “Books.”

Our Christmas Nativity concert- “Census Sums” retelling the wonderful story of the birth of Jesus. This was part of our Come and See topic called ‘Preparing’

Advent- Adfent Look and the many exciting ways we have been preparing for the birth of Jesus!

During November and December we were’ Attentive and Discerning’- here is our class display where we wrote about ways that we had been attentive and discerning.

In 2M we have been feeling particularly excited this week. This is because Sunday is going to be a very special day. Do you know what is so special about Sunday? It’s the first Sunday of Advent! We have learnt about a very special tradition of Advent, the Advent wreath. In Mass on Sunday, we will be lighting the first candle on the Advent wreath. Did you know that every part of the Advent wreath has its own very special meaning? In Year 2, we have been learning all about the different parts of the Advent wreath and what they all symbolise. Some of us have written our own explanation texts.

As part of our Come and See religious learning, we look at different faiths. We looked at Judaism ✡️ and Hinduism 🕉 in Year 2. Here we are, participating in some creative learning experiences.

Since before half term, 2M have been working very hard to practise our class assembly. It was based on our Come and See topic ‘Signs and Symbols’ and focussed on the symbols used in Baptism. We learnt about the symbolism of the cross, the water, the oil of Chrism, the white garment and the candle. We recognise that there are signs and symbols of God’s love all over our world and our mission is to go and look out for them, to help us as we shine as children of the light. We decorated wooden hearts to give to our families as a symbol of our love for them.

From our Signs and Symbols class assembly. Our mission: to go forth and look for signs and symbols of God's love, as we shine as children of the light.

Special prayer times - we love planning our Gweddiwn Worship with our friends. We love telling our class what we liked about it.

Using our Eco garden to explore God’s creation. Look what we have found! We said this short prayer 🙏 Thank you God for the tress and flowers, Thank you God for the pond. Thank you God for the green, green grass, Thank you for our land.
