Outdoor Maths learning- because we know our bonds of 10, we can apply our learning to find bonds of 100 and even 1000. #itsnothingnewbigmaths

Being Eloquent and Truthful- this week, we have been using our creative skills to express our feelings eloquently, through art. Here are some wonderful examples of our work,

Spectrum Cymru- over the past three weeks, Year 2 have completed a programme that helps develop strategies for dealing with emotions. Our visitor, Miss Curtis, taught a range of activities to develop respect for all, coping with emotions and keeping safe.

Linking multiplication and division- Well done, Sanjh, on some super learning,

Using our Big Maths technique, “It’s nothing new,” to double numbers.

We have been using the outdoor multiplication grid in the Key Stage 2 playground to practise our 2, 5 and 10 times tables.

As part of our Eco Week learning, we have been looking at biodiversity in our school grounds. We used IPads to collect pictures of what we found and then produced graphs with the information.

Dahlicious Day in 2V

Last Thursday, we celebrated Dahlicious Day as a whole school. This meant that all of our learning that day was focused on the fabulous author, Roald Dahl. In our writing, we tried to use descriptive language which is often found in Roald Dahl’s stories. One of our favourite words that we used was ‘revolting’. We completed a Roald Dahl problem solving activity, which encouraged us to think mathematically. It was such fun reading extracts from George’s Marvellous Medicine and trying to remember all of the disgusting ingredients he used! Afterwards, we created our own Marvellous Medicines, which were truly revolting!

God’s Creation Learning in 2M

After reflecting on how grateful we are for God’s wonderful creations, we focused on sequencing and retelling the Creation Story and added our own beautiful illustrations. Here is the Creation Story, as written by Maksymilian:

On the first day, God created day and night. On the second day, God created the Earth and the sky. On the third day, God created the land, seas, plants and trees. On the fourth day, God created the sun, the moon and the stars. On the fifth day, God created birds and sea creatures. On the sixth day, God created animals and people. On the seventh day, God rested and was happy with all he had made.
