Homework 05.07.19

Next week we are going to use all our knowledge of Ottoline and the Yellow Cat to write our our own Mystery story. Everyone will include Ottoline and Mr Munroe in their story but we would like pupils to introduce their own new character. The homework task this week is to draw a character that they would like to include in their mystery story. Make sure you label your character using descriptive tools (adjectives, alliteration and similes) you can be as creative as you like.

Homework 28.06.19

Next week is the start of July. Lots of schools and people around the world are taking part in plastic free July. This is where we will all try to use as little single use plastic as possible. For your homework you have a choice you could :

  • Create a poster about the dangers of using single use plastics and encouraging people to find more sustainable options
  • write about what you are going to do you might take photos of some of the things you do instead of using single use plastic ( for example a reusable water bottle and lunch box rather than single use sandwich bags)
  • write a persuasive letter to a supermarket to ask them to give more plastic free options
  • write a letter to the government about plastic free July and the importance of it

Some plastic free ideas you could write about are:

Using a reusable bottle rather than single use ones

Using a lunchbox and tub rather than single use sandwich bags

Buying loose fruit and veg rather than in a packet

Using a shampoo bar rather than plastic bottle

Using bag for life when shopping rather than buying new ones

Recycling as much as possible

We have discussed the key 'ingredients' we would want in a friend and have come up with a list of these qualities. We would like the children to create a family tree over the weekend, they can be as creative as they want. Children can write their family tree down on paper, use pictures, create one on hwb or create one through art. This will help us when we create our family and friendship circles next week.

We are children of the Living God

We are children of the Living God

We are children who know God’s love.

We are children who walk in light

And we are beautiful in God’s sight.

  1. We heard the voice of Jesus say:

“I Love you I forgive.”

And when we listened carefully,

We learned how we should live.

               Chorus

  1. We heard the voice of Jesus say:

“Don’t run away I’m here.

And when your heart is feeling sad

Just know that I am here.”

              Chorus

  1. We heard the voice of Jesus say:

“I live inside your heart,

And in the heart of earth and starts,

So we will never be apart.”

Praise to you O Christ, our Saviour,

Praise to you O Christ, our Saviour,

Word of the Father, calling us to life:

Son of God who leads us to freedom

Glory to you lord Jesus Christ!

You are the word who calls us out of darkness:

You are the word that leads us into light

You are the word that brings us through the desert:

Glory to you Lord Jesus Christ

Praise to you O Christ, our Saviour,

Word of the Father, calling us to life:

Son of God who leads us to freedom

Glory to you lord Jesus Christ!

Freely, Freely.

God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name,
I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name;
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His love as He told me to.

He said: ‘Freely, freely, you have received,
Freely, freely give;
Go in My name, and because you believe
Others will know that I live.’

All power is given in Jesus’ name,

In earth and heaven in Jesus’ name;
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His power as He told me to.

He said: ‘Freely, freely, you have received,
Freely, freely give;
Go in My name, and because you believe
Others will know that I live.’

They may choose to write some phrases or sentences, a letter, conversation or celebrity profile in Welsh. There is a very useful online dictionary on the website bbclearnwelsh which will be helpful when the children are writing in Welsh.

Cookery Competition - Children are encouraged to cook something which is a traditional Welsh recipe or depicts Wales to them.

I Will Wales – Tourist Guide

Children are asked to create a tourism guide for a specific part of Wales. They may wish to focus on the following:

Cardiff Bay

The Brecon Beacons

Snowdonia

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

The following link is an example of a Welsh promotional video, produced to celebrate Welsh culture and encourage visitors https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOv6qwIandk

Children may wish to use Google Classrooms via Hwb and create a Google Site or Google slides. If children decide to use the tools available on Hwb it is then their responsibility to download the file and save it into the Eisteddfod entry folder in their pupil folders on Monday 4th March. If any support is needed to do this, please see class teachers. Pupils are to research ways that they can save water using the internet, books and any other resource and create an informative poster on paper. This will help to inform work on Eco-week next week.

Questions to think about:

Why do we need to save water?

Why do humans and animals need water?

Why will saving water help the environment?

Why is water so important?

On average how much water do people waste in a day?

Who or what organisation is trying to get people to save water?

Where does our drinking water come from?

How can we save water at home and at school?

Christmas Holiday Homework

For your homework over the Christmas holidays, we would like you to create/make a Christmas scrap book diary using recycled materials.

The children have been learning about how to be eco-friendly this Christmas and have decided this is how they would like to present their homework. You can use any materials you get over the Christmas holidays. There is no need to go out and buy any materials/books to make the diary. Please make sure there is some writing within your homework about your Christmas day and how you have been eco-friendly this Christmas.

Some materials you could use are:

  • Christmas cards
  • Boxes
  • Used wrapping paper
