Pupil Enrichment Programme

SUMMER 2022

 

At St. Philip Evans Catholic Primary School, our enrichment program offers a range of after school activities providing our pupils with excellent learning opportunities allowing them to develop essential life skills which are embedded in the 4 Core Purposes of the New Welsh Curriculum. They allow our pupils to become:

  • Ambitious, capable learners who are ready to learn throughout their lives.
  • Enterprising, creative contributors who are ready to play a full part in life and work.
  • Ethical, informed citizens who are ready to be citizens of Wales and the world.
  • Healthy, confident individuals who are ready to lead fulfilling lives as valued members of society

LEARNING CLUBS – Years Reception-Year 6- Mrs Sanejo, Mrs Tyler and Mrs Wathan

Learning clubs primary purpose is to offer pupils who do not have access to a computer or I.T at home the opportunity to access the online learning platforms in school which will support homework and extend learning beyond the school day. The teaching assistants who run these clubs will also listen to learners read, practice spelling and support children with their maths learning. The children will be able to access Bug Club, Giglets, Mathletics, READIWRITER, Espresso and Abacus Maths. This club is grant-funded and therefore certain conditions apply, and therefore, pupils who are entitled to free school meals will have first access.

At St. Philip Evans Catholic Primary School, we want all children to flourish and we are embedding The Thrive Approach to support our pupils emotional and social development. Our aim is to help our pupils feel happy and secure, to be able to enjoy friendships, to relate well to others and be ready and able to learn. We recognise the impact a child’s emotional development has on their overall achievement and have specific provisions within our curriculum designed to help children with their emotional and social skills. In the Thrive Nurture Club, the children will engage in games, mindfulness, creative, active, outdoor and discussion activities that will support their wellbeing and emotional development.

Mrs Taylor’s Yoga club is an opportunity for pupils to learn about their body developing flexibility, their mind learning calming techniques, and spirit promoting emotional intelligence.

 

Gardening Club- Year 2 – Year 6

Miss Coker’s gardening club teaches pupils skills linked to gardening whilst understating and caring for the natural world. Any gardening equipment, plants or seed donations very welcome.

 

CODE CLUB Year 4- Year 6

Miss Davies will lead a code club that provides children with the opportunity to develop their computer coding skills as well as helping to ensure our school community stays safe online.
