John Lewis competition

John Lewis are running a competition to design a super hero teddy bear!

"We’re launching a competition to find a superhero teddy bear, and we need your help designing it. The winning teddy will be sold in John Lewis and Waitrose shops later this year, with 100% of the profits going to the NHS".

This is a very important cause and I know in Year 6 we are very creative! Remember, Christy won the anti-racism poster competition earlier this year - so it is possible!

If you wish to find out more information head to the following web page: https://www.johnlewis.com/content/your-partners-through-it-all/feel-good-friday

There is guidance on the competition and how to submit your entries - parents would need to assist with this.

The Diff Diaries

Cardiff Council are running  a competition, encouraging families to share their experiences during lockdown.

Share your Lockdown Story

The coronarivus has rapidly changed life as we know it in Cardiff, and the ‘Diff Diaries will bring
children and young people together for voices to be heard, stories to be told and experiences
to be understood for generations to come. The ‘Diff Diaries will involve lots of  opportunities to develop creative skills!

To find out more information and how to submit an entry,
please visit:
https://sites.google.com/hwbcymru.net/the-covid-19-diff-diaries/home

Entries can be submitted weekly via Hwb, and children and young people will need a Hwb email in order to enter ‘Diff Diaries. If you have forgotten your Hwb email please contact: cardiffcommitment@cardiff.gov.uk

The project will come to an end one month after all schools re-open for statutory education.
Highlights of the entries will be shared weekly via the Cardiff Council and Cardiff Commitment social media channels using the hashtag:
#TheDiffDiaries #DyddiaduronDiff

Spelling Bee Competition

It is very important that all children are still developing their spelling skills over the coming weeks. A word document has been uploaded below, which has structured spelling lists for your year group. These are some of  the words that children are expected to be able to spell by the end of that year. Your challenge over the coming weeks is to learn how to spell as many of these words as possible.

A Spelling Bee competition will take place in each class when we return to school and rewards will be given to the children who have made the most progress with their spelling.

Teachers will be setting differentiated spelling tasks on a weekly basis in order to develop spelling skills, with a range of activities, both online and unplugged. Please see the weekly overview for these spelling tasks.

Remember Spellodrome is also a fantastic resource to continue to develop your spelling skills.
