1. This weeks homework is inline with the childrens inquiry topic and is to create either a Celtic Hillfort or Roman armour out of safe and sensible craft materials.As this is a big piece of homework the deadline for this is Wednesday the 18th of September. You have a good amount of time to do this homework so be Creative!
2. Reading - Please ensure you are reading with your children everynight. All children have been sent home with a book approbate to their levels and have access to books on bug club also. We are having a big push on Reading so its important the children do so at home swell as in school.
3.Spellings are on Edshed as usual- the children have been sent home with their logins.
4.Maths homework is on Placevalue and can be found on Maths Shed.

There are two homeworks this week:
1. Your first homework is to add a photograph to Google Classroom of yourself in your favourite outfit. This could be your favourite outfit you wear on the weekend, a sports kit of your favourite team, an outfit related to your religion or something else that you wear that is special to you that makes you feel happy. This is for a lesson we will be doing together next week about where we will be learning about how different clothing helps share our identity and shows we're all unique.
2. For this same lesson we also need an old t-shirt that you don't want anymore. Please bring in any t shirt which is a light colour.

Your homework this week is to contribute your favourite tasty recipe from home or from around the World so we can create a St Philip Evans 'A taste of Home' cookbook to put on the school website. Please choose healthy (ish) recipes, especially ones that reflect your culture. It will be fantastic to see what your version of home cooking is and allows us to celebrate the diverse cultures in our community. All details on are on the attached document 'A taste of home homework'. Please complete on a piece of paper to bring into school.

Your homework this week is to bring in any leftover leaflets/magazines, scraps of fabric/faux fur or old t-shirts, feathers for our inquiry lesson next week to create mood boards. Please bring in a bag with your creative materials. Don't worry too much if you haven't got any of these things at home, we will have some materials in school to use! We need colour as it will be in the theme of The Jungle Book so greens, oranges, browns, reds and yellows would be great.

Your half term homework is to research a sport or sportsperson ahead of celebrating Olympic Week the first week back of term. Try and find out as many facts as you can and create your very own fact file. Use BBC Bitesize and Google to help you find out information. There are two examples attached of either a sport or sportsperson fact file. You can either do this on Google Classroom on a Google Docs, or on a piece of paper at home.
A big well done to all of Year 3 this term. We've had lots of assessments and everyone has done very well! You should all be very proud of yourselves.
The Jungle Book
Well done to all the children who auditioned for The Jungle Book. The Year 3 and 4 teachers were very impressed with everyone and we wish we could have given a speaking part to you all! As we said, even if you didn't get a speaking part, everyone will have the chance to be a part of the summer production in some way.
The children were told if they had speaking parts yesterday, however we have re-attached the character names with each person below, as some children were unsure of the their character names. Unfortunately we weren't able to print scripts for every part. The children highlighted green have received a script as their lines are throughout the script. The full script of the play is attached. Please feel free to print at home your lines. If you do not have a printer, copy down your lines on to a piece of paper to practise. If you have any problems doing this don't worry too much, your teachers can help you after half term.

There are 2 homework tasks this week. The first is optional.
Homework 1: Our Summer production for Year 3 and 4 this year is 'The Jungle Book'. Year 3's homework this week is if they wish to audition, practise a part from the script. We will start to audition in the next few weeks before half term. We will give the children notice of when this will be. They can have the script with them to audition if they wish. There are a number of speaking parts in the production, acting parts, stage production and costume design. If you want a speaking/acting part, please choose one part from the attached scripts. If you do not wish to audition for a speaking or acting part it's not a problem- Everyone will be a part of our jungle choir!
Homework 2: Please can you answer these questions about yourself on a Google Docs on Google Classroom. We have written some ideas below each question, as to how you might wish to answer the questions. This needs to be written digitally, so if you have trouble accessing Google Classroom, please ask your teachers.

Miss O'Donovan's Group- Your task is to complete the worksheet numbers to 1000. Please complete on a piece of paper and bring in to school on Wednesday.

This weeks homework is in line with out topic all about animals adaptations and habitats.
This week your homework is to research an animal and create a poster or a fact-file about that animal. Think about what the animal looks like, its adaptations and its habitat.
As some of the Children were on the Urdd Trip this weekend Spellings will be carried over from last week.
A message has already gone out but just a reminder On Monday we are celebrating World Earth Day- so please could you all bring in recycled materials: cardboard boxes, water bottles, cans, pots etc.
REMINDER- PLEASE LABEL ALL SCHOOL UNIFORM ESPECIALLY JUMPERS AND CARDIGANS AS THE WEATHER IS GETTING BETTER.

Ahead of World Book Day next week, Year 3's homework this week is to read a new story book recommended either by your family or a friend. We are also looking at a narrative text in our new writing journey, so we need to be reading and listening to lots of stories in school and at home.
Please see template attached 'Book Review Template' for what your book review needs to include. We are going to display some of your fantastic reviews on the reading display in our classroom. Make sure to include an illustration of your favourite part of the story.

Year 3's homework this week is to to complete Math's homework on Google Classroom. There are two different Math's homework set, based on what group you are in. Please refer to Google classroom. Both Maths sheets are also attached below if you're having trouble accessing Google Classroom.

Important Messages
Lots of children in Year 3 do not have a book bag or book everyday. We are having a big push on reading as mentioned in Parent's Evening, so every child needs to have a book bag. If your child has forgotten their book and book bag, the school will call home to request this to be brought in everyday. Book bags can be purchased from the school office.
It is imperative the children need to be read with daily at home as well as in school, to help support them progress in reading. This is to develop both their fluency and understanding. Please refer to the reading area of the school website, if you need help with how to support your child whilst reading.
Bug club has been updated with new book bands based on the children's data. These are additional texts to improve your child's progress.
Maths Shed is currently updating, so please complete this week's Maths homework either on a Google Docs or on a piece of paper to be brought into school.

Your homework is to create either a Celtic hillfort or a Roman shield as a part of our new topic. You can make whatever you have chosen out of any safe material. Please see examples in the attached document 'Craft examples'. The deadline for this homework is later than normal as it's a bigger task- Monday 5th February.
School Trip Reminder
Please ensure the children have a warm coat as we will be walking from each place in Caerleon outdoors. The children will need a backpack with their lunch inside. If you have ordered a grab bag, please ensure this is done prior to Monday. The children ordering grab bags will still need to bring a small backpack to put their grab bags in please. Children need to be dressed in school uniform and please ensure they have appropriate footwear. We have spoken to the parents who are joining us on the trip. Thank you to all the parents who have offered to help.

Your homework this week is to practise basic Welsh questions with your families at home. Please see attached document 'Welsh Questions Homework 24.11.23' with questions you need to practise. These do not need to be written down. We want you to practise speaking these words rather than recording these written down this week. Try and have a conversation with these questions. We will practise these together again next week to hear everyone's lovely Welsh words.

Create a crown for the feast of Christ the King. You can use any material you like. We will decorate them as a class next week.

Water Bottles
The children's water bottles have been sent home with them this week. Please can you wash these to be returned Monday. The water bottles have been bought for the children for the classroom, so we need to ensure these aren't lost at home.

There are 3 homework tasks this week!
- Complete the health and wellbeing survey on Google Classroom. This is a very short survey to complete. All children should now have access to Google Classroom. Please see instructions below if they are unsure.

- The third homework this week is a focus on our topic work which is Geography based- 'Where on Earth are We?'. This is a two week homework task so doesn't have to be returned until Monday 23rd October. Your homework is to create either a volcano, 3D model of layers of the Earth, a mountain or another physical feature in the UK. There are examples below of things you could make. Try to use recycled materials where possible. If you are unable to make a 3D model, please create a poster based on one of these things.

Homework Friday 6th October
HOMEWORK IS DUE EVERY WEDNESDAY
Homework Task
Your homework this week is to practise your handwriting. All children have been given handwriting paper to do this.
Instructions:
- 1) Look at the example document to see the expectation of the task.
- 2) Your activity is to write the letters of the alphabet from a to z. Use the back of the paper also. One line per letter. All handwriting must be done in blue pen or a pen- this is essential. DO NOT use pencil.
- 3) Handwriting must clear, neat and legible.
- 4) Hand in your homework by Wednesday 11th October.
Remember- try your very best and take your time with your handwriting.
If you are having any problems completing this, please do not panic, your teachers will show you again on Monday.
