  • Miss Canney's Assembly

    Thu 19 Mar 2020

    Dear Parents

In light of the current outbreak of COVID-19 and in consultation with the Chair of Governors for the school, I have taken the decision to review non-essential school events to limit risk to the school community including those who may be more vulnerable.

Although such events are an integral part of the school calendar I feel that it is sensible to postpone Miss Canney’s Reception Class Assembly until later in the school year. I am sure you will support the school in this matter.

    Kind Regards

    Miss Power

  • Taking Part in the Girls International Day of Sport

    Sun 25 Nov 2018

The Girls in Year 5 have been on a really exciting visit to celebrate International Girls Day at Cardiff MET. The girls got to try out many different sports and we took part in 12 different sports. Some sports they had tried before and some new ones. Year 5 girls had to use their habit of mind thinking flexibly to learn new rules to different sports and learn some new skills. They were very lucky as they got to play tennis, squash, basketball, Taekwondo and even got to go on a trampoline. They had the opportunity to learn new skills and work together as a team to complete some of the sports. It was an excellent visit and one that encouraged all of the girls to try new sports and different ways of staying healthy and fit.

  • Celebrating the Feast of St Philip Evans

    Thu 25 Oct 2018

On Thursday 25th October, Father Gareth celebrated a special Mass to mark the occasion of the canonization of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales. Mass was celebrated in the school hall and pupils from Reception to Year 6 attended. Mrs Roberts had been working with a group of learners to write a hymn about the life of St Philip Evans and it was the first time that this hymn had been sung in a mass.

Twelve pupils dressed as people from the Old Testament and the Six Welsh Martyrs to help Father Gareth in his homily.

Father Gareth gave the school a new chasuble as it was probably his final Mass that he would celebrate in St Philip Evans. The new chasuble is  embellished with the harp and tower from our school badge and the keys to the Kingdom and the swords that represent St Peter and St Paul. We will treasure it forever. Thank you for celebrating this special Mass with us Father Gareth.
