HOMEWORK FRIDAY 9th SEPTEMBER

For homework this week please help your child to learn our morning and evening school prayer. Children are to decorate these prayers and they are to be kept at home so you can share these with your child each day.

Healthy and Fit - Euro's 2016

This week we have been thinking about how to keep the Welsh football team healthy. The children have all written advice for Gareth Bale.

In your child's homework book you will find a plate template and some different foods. Your child needs to cut out and stick the foods on to the correct part of the plate. We have been discussing how different foods help us - dairy help our teeth and bones, carbohydrates give us energy, protein helps us keep strong and fruits and vegetables keep us well.

E Safety Week

To start e-safety week we thought about how we stay safe in school. We talked about how during learning time we have to stay in the classroom with the teacher. We discussed how we must stay inside the gates when we are on the playground, where the adults can see us. We thought about why, even if we have finished our lunch, we have to stay in the hall until the midday supervisor tells us we can leave. We then thought about what we must do to stay safe when we are online. We realised that the way we do this, is the same as how we stay safe in other areas of the school. We are not allowed to go out of the website that the teacher has set, we have to stay on the allocated website to stay safe online. We also know that just like in the real world, we must not speak to strangers in the online world.

Our E-safety class mascot ‘Smartie the Penguin’, taught us this rhyme to help us remember all the things we talked about:

The Adventures of Smartie the Penguin:

“Before you CLICK CLICK CLICK, you need to THINK THINK THINK!”

Bella Italia! This week we followed a recipe to make our very own pizzas. We then wrote our own recipes.

Wonderful World

During the Spring term we have been learning all about

India, Australia, Italy and Africa.

INDIA WEEK

This week we read 'An Elephant Dance'. It told us all about life in India. We wrote postcards to our friends describing all the beautiful things we saw, ate, smelt and did.

Some of our Indian friends from the school performed authentic Indian dancing wearing their colourful costumes. We also had great fun learning how to 'Bollywood dance'!

We experienced smelling a range of Indian spices and ended the week with an Indian feast.

AUSTRALIA WEEK

We found out all about Australia by watching Barnaby Bear on his travels 'down under'! During our pupil voice session, we decided to design, make and perform with our own didgeredoos, build the Sydney Harbour bridge in the construction area and also have our very own Aussie Barbie!

We investigated which material would be the best for a boomerang to travel the furthest as well as learning a fun kangaroo rhyming song.

Although the rain came down, we still celebrated Australia week by cooking hot dogs on the BBQ outside and having an ice cream treat!

ITALY WEEK

What a busy week! This week we have been writing recipes to help us make our very own pizzas. We have also really enjoyed role playing our very own 'Bella Italia' restaurant. We have taken in turns being the customer, the chef, the waiter/waitress and the delivery driver! We have also been selecting the correct coins to pay for our pizzas. Our creative task was to create our own Venitian masks and parade them around the classroom! We have also worked in teams outside to build the 'Leaning Tower of Pisa'.
