As part of Eco week, we will be learning all about the rainforest and how we can help to protect it. Before we start our work on the rainforest, we would like you to find out about an animal that lives in the rainforest (e.g. a monkey, sloth, tucan, anaconda or a jaguar). It is up to you how you choose to record what you have found out, maybe you will use the internet or visit the library to read a book, maybe you might even watch a programme about rainforest animals.
We would like you to bring your favourite book to school. It might be a story book or even an information book. You do not need to write about this book, we will be having a group discussion in class to talk about our favourite books, what is special about them and why we like them so much.

Our first Come and See (RE) topic in Year 1 is 'Families'. We will be thinking about who is in our family and how we are all a part of God's family. For your homework, we would like you to bring a photograph of your family to school to share with our class throughout the topic. If you do not have a photograph, you could draw a picture in your green book instead.
